Galaxy Art

As we continue to study planet earth, the moon and stars, we are mesmerized with our universe! Questions are being asked such as "When did the universe begin?", "How big is the universe?", "How many stars are there?", "What was before the universe?" , "Where does it start?" We are reading many books about stars and space as we try to find answers to the BIG questions! We had a lot of fun creating galaxies with liquid water color, salt and glitter!

Number Patterns

In our current Investigations unit, students describe and represent ratios, use tables to represent and predict change, and work with numeric sequences as they construct and describe patterns. Students extend repeating patterns and determine which element of the pattern will be in a particular position. We expressed our understanding of number pattern relationships by creating posters.  Our ideas included "How many Points on a Star?", "How many fins on a shark?" and "How many cards in a Bakugan pack?" Children experienced first hand how numbers increased by a constant change, and predicted patterns as numbers increased. They also created tables with missing numbers that their peers could then figure out. A fun math activity!

Our Moon

After spending our theme time researching facts about the moon, sun and earth, students compiled their moon facts to display with our puff paint moons! We mixed glue and shaving cream to create moonscapes, craters and all! A fun and messy project!
