Sorting Trash!

As a part of our Community theme, we are learning how to reduce, reuse and recycle. We are learning first hand about the trash we create each and every day in our classroom and our lunchroom. We were very surprised to learn that we could do so much better at reducing the amount of trash we create! In the trash can, we found full milk containers, unopened yogurts, food that can be composted, a real fork and a lot of paper towels! We put on rubber gloves and sorted our lunchroom trash outside and we sorted our classroom trash inside. We charted the results, and shared our classroom trash results at the All School Share. We are in the process of discovering the many ways we can help our community by reducing, reusing and recycling the amount of trash for which we are responsible.
