Let's Go On a Bug Hunt

We went on an inside bug hunt in our classroom! We found mosquito's, butterflies, ants, caterpillars and more! Children kept track of their findings using a clipboard and data sheet. We are immersed in a study of Insects and Bugs. We are learning the three main body parts; head, thorax and abdomen. We made a chart of things we already knew about Insects and what we would like to know, some interesting questions children wanted to know were: "Do they sleep?", "How do fireflies glow?", and "How long do they live?" We will continue to explore Insects and Bugs over the next couple of weeks.

Four Winds

Volunteers Needed for our Classroom!
Four Winds’ Nature Program provides monthly two-hour natural science workshops for adults interested in sharing their love of nature with school children. Following these volunteer training workshops, teams of volunteers go into the K-6 classrooms for 1 hour a month to teach children. With engaging indoor and outdoor activities and explorations, adults give young students an opportunity to study nature in their own schoolyard and neighborhood. Children learn important science concepts and practice science skills such as asking questions, making observations, recording data, and communicating information. Please contact Dana Hudson at hudsondana@comcast.net or let me know if you are interested, Thanks!

A Very Busy Week!

Kindergarten was awesome this week! Five full days and the children did an amazing job!!! We learned a lot about our routines, materials and each other. We have our first "homework" of the school year... and kindergarten has been asking for homework!
Kindergarten Homework
“Me Bags”
Fill this bag with 3-4 items that tell something about you! Ideas such as a photograph, small items such as a Lego if you like to build, Crayon if you like to color, etc.

We will be sharing our “Me Bags” next week and learn about each other while we practice our speaking and listening skills!

During our Morning Meeting, we learned games such as Twizzle and Four Corners. We signed our class guidelines with a smiley face, and decided on our classroom expectations, which go hand in hand with our school codes: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful.
