In our current Investigations unit, students describe and represent ratios, use tables to represent and
predict change, and work with numeric sequences as they construct and
describe patterns. Students extend repeating patterns and determine which
element of the pattern will be in a particular position. We expressed our understanding of number pattern relationships by creating posters. Our ideas included "How many Points on a Star?", "How many fins on a shark?" and "How many cards in a Bakugan pack?" Children experienced first hand how numbers increased by a constant change, and predicted patterns as numbers increased. They also created tables with missing numbers that their peers could then figure out. A fun math activity!
