Welcome to First Grade!

We had a fabulous first week of school! The children were very busy learning our classroom routines and class expectations. During Math, we learned two new strategy games called Tappatan and Quartet. We also explored many of our math tools we will be using this year. 

One of our favorite times of day is Science. We are learning about what scientists do; we know that scientists ask questions (they wonder about things), they make predictions, they experiment, collect data and draw conclusions. This process of Inquiry is so fun to learn by hands-on experimenting and we participated in two this week! We end our days with Closing Circle, a time for children to reflect on their day and bring our group together to say good bye as we are a community of first graders who work and play together!
